The Committee
(1) Approved the proposals outlined in OPD (67) 57 for the
development of airfield facilities on Aldabra and invited the Defence Secretary, in consultation with the Foreign Secretary, and the Minister of Public Building and Works, to proceed accordingly.
(2)
Invited the Defence Secretary, in consultation with the
Minister of State for Education and Science, to consider arrangements for co-ordinating further consultation with the scientific interests concerned on the basis that the local governmental expenditure agreed on measures for the preservation of the ecology of Aldabra should be borne on Defence Votes.
